Hello April! I am beyond thrilled the Sun is finally coming out and the flowers are beginning to bloom.
Okay, so what's the deal with Natural skincare? And what's the difference between that and professional/synthetic?
A lot of it has to do with your personal preference. If you’re the kind of person that enjoys knowing every. single. ingredient. that is being applied to your face--go natural. If you’re pregnant, we suggest staying on the safe side and going natural as well.
However, if you want to see major results: go professional. There is absolutely nothing wrong with professional skincare, as it's formulated to *not harm* your skin and to be as effective as possible. Natural skincare does not include active ingredients (think any type of acid, retinol, etc). I use a mixture of both: Vitamin C serum, Salicylic Acid, Grapeseed oil. Baby steps, people!
MAUDE’s CEO, Taylor Moulton, always knows the inside scoop on all things beauty, so I went to her and our esthetician Taryn for some advice on the matter of natural vs. professional products.
“This is my personal opinion, but I think the biggest worry of mine with professional skincare is that you can over do it. Professional skincare has a lot of harsh ingredients, so word of caution is to just limit treatments to what is okay with your skin. Basically I want our readers to know that they should do their research; skincare can be a such trial and error. Then the worry with natural skincare is that it just doesn't prove enough results. I do about 50% natural and 50% synthetic, but I still check the ingredients every. single. time. If you want to see major results for anti-aging, retinol is a must. It's absolutely the best anti-aging ingredient out there.”
With all of that in mind, we wanted to share, in our opinion, some of the best natural products that are on the market right now. Take a look and tell us what you think!
Tata Harper: There is a reason this is first on the list. You honestly couldn’t go wrong with any of their products because everything is gold in a bottle. We especially like their resurfacing mask because ALL of their ingredients are natural, and over 75% of them are organic.
Youth to the People's Age Prevention Cleanser: This brand a close-close second to Tata Harper. This cleanser is my favorite all-natural, anti-aging product I recommend. It's full of super foods like Green Tea, Spinach, Alfalfa, and Kale to give extra vitamins and love to your skin. " - Taylor Moulton
Indie Lee’s Clearing Mask: Another favorite from the MAUDE squad. Not only does it unclog pores and help congested skin, but it uses fruit acids to eliminate dead skin cells while allowing plant extracts to nourish and protect your face.
One Love Organics ‘Brand New Day Scrub & Mask’: Ingredients that are organic and healthy, like sweet pea flour, pineapple enzymes, and mineral rich kaolin clay make this scrub a must have in your skin care routine.
Indie Lee’s Brightening Cleanser: This is their best-seller when it comes to cleansers because of their incredible natural ingredients and antioxidants. Not only that, but it also has a strawberry aroma that makes the gloomiest days feel like summer year round.
Josh Rosebrook products: Our 2 favorite products from this company are the Active Enzyme Exfoliator and Cacoa Antioxidant Mask. Both use organic ingredients that leave your skin screaming for more. Your natural glow and baby-soft skin will agree us.
We hope you try out these products and enjoy them as much as we do. From all of us at Maude, we encourage you to start reading the ingredients in your products from here on out. Start now to keep your skin as healthy as possible because the future you will thank you later.
